Dr. Cesar Munoz is a Board Certified Psychiatrist. He was born in lima, Peru. Dr. Munoz attended medical school at The Peruvian University of Cayetano Heredia. He did two years of psychiatric residency at the Peruvian Institute of Mental Health of Honorio Delgado-Hideo Noguchi. He continued his postgraduate training at the University of Alabama, Department of Psychiatry.

After completing his residency training in psychiatry, he did a fellowship in Community Psychiatry at the UAB Community-Psychiatry program specializing in the treatment of the severely mentally ill. After his fellowship, he joined the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs medical center for three years in which he develop and directed a psychiatric intensive care inpatient unit. Dr. Munoz continued his inpatient work as a faculty at the UAB Department of Psychiatry, providing inpatient care to JBS Mental Health authority.

During his years at UAB he participated in several investigator initiated studies as well as pharmacologic clinical trials. Dr. Munoz joined the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he is currently the Chairperson of the Mental Health sub-council. He servers America's Heroes providing treatment to patients with post-traumatic stress, mood and anxiety disorders as well as severely mentally ill. He is also a voluntary faculty at UAB, where he contributed to teach and train medical students, residents and psychology interns.

Dr. Munoz joined the Renaissance center, where he practices two evenings a week, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Dr. Munoz provides medication management to private patients diagnosed with depression, mood disorders, panic phobias, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. As a bilingual psychiatrist (fluent in Spanish and english), he is also committed to provide psychiatric treatment to our Hispanic community.

Dr. Munoz also belongs to the advisory boards of several pharmaceutical companies, helping them to develop better psychiatric medication. He also lectures in psycho-pharmacology to other psychiatrists, physicians and mental health professionals in our community for the state of Alabama and throughout the country internationally. As an expert in the field of psychiatry he has also provided his testimony in several court cases.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his family getting to know other cultures. His hobbies include; photography, videotaping, Latin and world music, collecting military miniatures and good food. He enjoys walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean.
